DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

  • The Department was established in the year 2010 with an intake of 60 in undergraduation programme B.E. and has grown leaps and bounds since inception.
  • The annual intake was increased to 120 in 2012. The post-graduation in Machine Design was started during the academic year 2013-14.
  • The Department is steered by Dr. R Vara Prasad Kaviti, Associate Professor & HOD
  • The Department of Mechanical Engineering is having a well equipped laboratories and is blessed with highly experienced, qualified and committed faculty members in Machine Design, Thermal Power and Manufacturing Science with Ph.D’s.
  • Most of the faculty have registered for Ph.D. in the department and well trained industrial experienced non-teaching staff.
  • The Department is recognized as R&D centre affiliated to VTU, Belagavi.
  • The Department has secured VTU RANKS and students are placed in several reputed companies.
  • The Mechanical Engineering Association “YANTRIKUMBH” was formed in 2015 to encourage faculty and students to conduct technical seminars, Paper presentations, Technical Quiz, Faculty Development Programs, workshops, sports and cultural activities.
  • The Students are placed and have succeeded in carving respectful positions in top MNC companies and many have opted for higher studies in various Foreign universities, IIT’setc.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

PEO1: To prepare Mechanical engineering graduate with an outstanding knowledge of mathematical, scientific, engineering, technology, management, humanities and various interdisciplinary subjects for a successful career.

PEO2: To equip students with modern tools, technology and advanced software's for deliberating engineering solutions.

PEO3: To equip students with broad based knowledge to support the service industries, economic development and to address social and engineering challenges of the nation.

PEO4: To inculcate students with leadership skills with high level of integrity and ethical values of team building and team work.

PO 1

Engineering knowledge : Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialisation to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO 2

Problem analysis : Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

Design/development of solutions : Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Candidates must have passed Class 10+2 exams from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects.
  • They must also have secured minimum aggregate marks of 60% in the above subjects combined.
