B.Sc. Microbiology is three years - 6 semesters course. This course is designed for the students who want to pursue their career in the fields of Chemistry, Zoology and Microbiology. The course covers the major areas ranging from fundamentals to advanced concepts in the subjects of Chemistry, Zoology & Microbiology. Along with these subjects students are exposed to Literature. 3 years - 6 semesters course. Each semester is of 16 weeks duration.
Pass in 10+ 2 or equivalent with two bio-science subjects Chemistry & Biology with any other subject.
75% attendance is a must for registering for the Bangalore University examination.
Duration of lecture hours per week per subject with respect to theory for I-IV semester is 4 hours
& for V-VI semesters is 6 hours.
Practical session will be for 3 hours / week / subject in I to IV semesters and 3 hrs. for V & VI
semesters
Lectures/Seminars/workshops/visit to industries/research institutions.
Students of final semester will carry out a project on Ethology (Animal behavior).
Bangalore University final exams will be held in the month of Nov/Dec for odd semesters and in the month of April/May for even semesters.
Internal marks are assessed based on the performance of the student in tests, assignments, seminars, attendance, punctuality, interaction relating to subject during class hours, approach in solving the problem - awareness, progress, creative thinking, development and the overall attitude of the student.
As per Bangalore University regulations.
Students can carryover subjects to next higher semester.
Student should complete the degree within 6 years from the date of admission to I semester.
From Odd to Even semester - 15 days.
After the completion of course, students are eligible for higher studies or can take up professions of their level.
Post graduate degree in Chemistry, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Genetics or PG Diploma in Food Technology, Bioinformatics, Dairy Technology, wild life conservation, pharmaceuticals, prawn/ pearl culture, aqua culture, agriculture, animal husbandry.
